Socket one

Mass next to the hosel, not a new crown

A heel plug is the closest gram to your hands. Walking mass there shortens the lever that wants to hold the face open. On the rims above the Yellowstone, that leftover fade is often an empty heel wearing a 2 g blank the factory shipped and nobody ever weighed.

What it does

A small walk, not a personality transplant

We do not promise a draw. We promise that the head’s mass is no longer pretending to live in the toe when the hole by the hosel is empty. A 4 g heel next to a 6 g toe is a different conversation from a 2 g heel next to a 12 g toe. The stamp, the loft number, the paint — none of that has to change for the conversation to change.

Dry Billings air keeps the ball up. A heel that is too light shows later in the flight than it would in thick summer humidity. That is why a golfer can look “fine” on a humid vacation and then leak it for a month at home. The plug did not unscrew itself. The air got honest.

Nora will still check the toe and the back. A heel-only story that ignores the other two sockets is how you buy a hook you did not want. The tray is a three-hole instrument even when the miss feels like a one-hole problem.
